All-inclusive hotels and resorts are quite popular with so many travelers. I can understand why, because there are quite a few benefits when you choose an all inclusive vacation. Many travelers love paying a price that includes everything for their vacation including food, drinks, entertainment, activities, and nightlife are all part of the package.
However, there are times when you can have an even better experience when you choose a luxury resort property that isn’t all-inclusive. Mexico is a destination that has amazing all-inclusive hotels and resorts but this part of the world also has even more spectacular luxury properties that will take your vacation to the next level.
Reasons Why All-Inclusive Hotels Might Not Be Your Best Option During Your Next Vacation in Mexico
1. Dining
The higher end all-inclusive hotels and resorts have a very good level of food quality but the luxury resorts have an excellent level. By staying in an all inclusive you are limited to the restaurants in just that resort but when you are free to dine where you like it opens you up to restaurants at other resorts or local, authentic, family owned restaurants.
2. Culture
All-inclusive hotels and resorts do not offer the cultural opportunities you could experience if you took the time to venture away from the property during your vacation in Mexico. While you can experience some authenticity at an all-inclusive resort in Mexico, you will discover so much more when you take the time to actually see the destination you are visiting. And yes, I know you can do off-site activities at an all-inclusive, but the luxury resorts will offer excursion that have more authenticity to really experience the local culture.
3. Service
Many all inclusive resorts do a great job at providing a high level of service for their guests. The luxury properties that I recommend go above and beyond a high level of service. It is really something that needs to be experienced to be understood but trust me it makes all the difference!
Luxury Properties in Mexico that Rival an All-Inclusive Option
Andaz Mayakoba Resort Riviera Maya
Andaz Mayakoba Resort Riviera Maya can be found directly on the Caribbean coastline. This secluded piece of paradise is nearby many of Playa de Carmen’s shops and restaurants. Your days can be spent snorkeling, swimming, and kitesurfing in the warm sparkling water. And at night, you can dine at a local restaurant before hitting up the shops to find a few souvenirs. Of course, this is also the perfect accommodation for when you want to take day trips to Xcaret, Cozumel, Chichen Itza, and Rio Secreto.
When you return to this luxury hotel each night, your suite will be waiting for you. My personal favorite suite is the Ocean View Suite. The king size bed is very inviting, as is the walk-in rain shower. However, the best feature of this suite is the private terrace with its plunge pool.
Rosewood Mayakoba
There is an abundance of things waiting for you when you take the time to vacation at the Rosewood Mayakoba in Riviera Maya. This gorgeous hotel is surrounded by a lush mangrove jungle, a soft sandy beach, and stunning lagoons. There is so much to do on this luxury property, which isn’t surprising since it has more than 600 acres.
You can choose to stay in any of the 129 suites at the Rosewood Mayakoba. The Lagoon Presidential Suite is a personal favorite when traveling with the family, because it offers three separated bedrooms for the ultimate in privacy. While the large living and dining spaces are a plus, you won’t find yourself spending much time in them. After all, your outdoor terrace will be beckoning to you, as will your own private swimming pool. And if you don’t want to use that pool when you wake up in the morning, you can easily slide into the plunge pool right outside the master bedroom.
NIZUC Resort & Spa
NIZUC Resort & Spa is conveniently located near the airport and yet it will feel as if you have walked into another world when you arrive. There are so many adventures you can take when you stay at this luxury resort in Mexico. My favorite thing to do near this Mexican resort is discovering the secrets of Lagoon Nichupte. You can ride a wave runner while in the lagoon, which is an experience all on its own. And if you don’t want to venture too far from your room, NIZUC has you covered with all sorts of activities.
Out of all the rooms and suites at NIZUC, the Master Suite will be the one that captures your attention. You won’t be able to resist the floor to ceiling windows that offer stunning views of the ocean. Those same windows open, so you can walk right out onto your private terrace and swim in the large infinity pool. What a way to wake up every morning during your Mexican vacation!
Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos Pedregal
If you are looking for the ultimate in luxury during a vacation in Los Cabos, you must consider staying at the Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos Pedregal. This hotel may appear, and feel secluded, when you first arrive. However, it is easy to reach many local attractions during your visit. You may think you want to sit and relax on the beach every day, but once you see how many activities are waiting for you, it will be easy to change your mind. Imagine parasailing high above the ground or snorkeling in the nice warm water. Horseback riding is an excellent way to see the surrounding area from a different perspective. And you will definitely want to spend a day at the spa being pampered before it is time for you to return home.
All the suites, villas, and private homes will have you feeling like you have finally found your home away from home. The Premium Beachfront One Bedroom Suite is a favorite of many. This private space includes a separate seating area, vaulted ceilings, and large sliding doors that will direct you right out to your own private terrace complete with plunge pool and fire pit. A short walk down a private path will have you at the beach in no time at all.
All-inclusive hotels and resorts are supposed to offer you everything you desire for your time away from home. But hopefully you can see how some of the luxury hotels and resorts in Mexico offer so much more. If you are really looking to enhance your Mexican vacations, I highly recommend we consider some of these luxury properties.
